Emma must have been so freaked out when she opened her eyes in the Storybrooke cell back in the first episode. She probably thought for a second that it was all a dream - getting out of prison, trying to lead a normal life and finally, getting her son back.
Maybe for a moment she thought she is still in that little cell, a month or two after giving birth and giving up her son with no future and no one to be there for her.
That short moment must have been terrifying as hell.
AU: Storybrooke Asylum (Women)
Fairytales did not belong to their world so they decided to belong to fairytales.
Mary Blanchard - accidentally caused a fire in which her husband and daughter died when falling asleep with a cigarette; she never fully recovered from the guilt and entered her own make-pretend world where her family will always find her and she gets awoken by a kiss.
Regina Mills - murdered both of her abusive parents when she turned sixteen. Cut her father’s heart out with a pocket knife. Now she thinks of herself as The Evil Queen - what exactly she thinks she rules we have yet to find out.
Emma Swan - calls herself the Savior and refers to Blanchard as ‘mother’. We suspect an unhealthy obsession with patient Mills that could have roots in Swan’s years in the system. [records missing]
Belle French - admitted on the grounds of hallucinations, the patient continues to speak to inanimate objects and writes the same word in the journal all over again: rumpelstilskin.
